Reproductive Freedom

In 2017, Delaware codified Roe v. Wade to ensure that the right to abortion remained protected. However, this protection could be removed by a simple majority vote and signature of the governor. Would you support a state constitutional amendment to explicitly protect access to reproductive healthcare from government overreach?

The typical cost of an abortion in Delaware is $500, and many pregnant people have additional expenses like childcare, transportation, and missed pay. This can make access to abortion difficult or impossible for low-income people and other vulnerable individuals. Do you support HS 1 for HB 110, to ensure financial barriers do not impact access to abortion?

Early in-person voting has benefits such as shorter lines, greater voter accessibility, improved poll worker performance, decreased Election Day stress, and fewer errors and voting system glitches. Do you support expanding Delaware early voting programs to include a longer early voting timeframe and more early voting locations?

In 2013, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down what had been called the “heart” of the Voting Rights Act, allowing states with histories of voter suppression to change voting laws without pre-clearance. This ruling has had disastrous consequences for the voting rights of minority communities. Would you support a Voting Rights Act in Delaware that focuses on protecting the rights of vulnerable voters?

Education Equity

Research shows and recent events prove that school resource officers (SROs) and constables do not make schools safer. According to Federal Civil Rights data, Delaware students attending schools with police are eight times more likely to be arrested than students attending schools without police. Would you support legislation to replace SROs and constables with more effective measures that are proven to keep our schools safe?

U.S. history is incomplete when students are not free to learn about the legacy of discrimination and lived experiences of historically marginalized communities. Do you believe students should have the right to read and learn, free from viewpoint-based censorship?

Immigrants’ Rights

There are currently an estimated 5,000 undocumented children in Delaware living without access to basic healthcare services. The “Cover all Children Act” (HB 150) is a critical first step towards developing a medical coverage program for children in Delaware who are not otherwise covered, including kids who are not documented. Would you support legislation like the “Cover All Children Act” to ensure that all children are protected and cared for?
