  • Candidate Questions

  • Having access to what is needed to achieve success.

  • The best way to accomplish this is by attending the monthly committee meetings for finance. A board member must do their homework to keep informed in order to ensure money goes where it is supposed to go.

  • I believe an underserved area in our district is behavior health, social workers, and guidance counselors. Ensuring the district has the appropriate numbers of these skilled individuals and potentially adding more of these positions would better help serve our students and help the staff we currently employee.

  • Having 2 administrators review disciplinary actions against students is a must. One administrator from where violations occur and another administrator from another school or from the district office to make sure our disciplinary actions are fair, consistent, and follow district guidelines. Making 2 administrators accountable will hopefully improve this process.

  • Absolutely. I believe this is an issue that has not been addressed enough. Students need to learn factual information. That means the good and the bad, especially of historical information.

  • Yes. I believe all students should be included no matter the individual circumstances for each student.

  • I believe this could exist in a current policy with appropriate amendments as necessary.

  • I believe our student code of conduct and disciplinary actions need to be followed and be consistent throughout the district to address bullying and other behavioral issues.

  • I do support the availability of translators within the school district. IRSD does a fine job in this area already. We do need to be mindful that time is very important to parents/families when these translations take place at school events.

  • Not necessarily. I believe the most qualified individuals should fill these roles. It would be nice to have diversity, but that is not always an option, unfortunately.

  • I would recommend annual lead testing be done on all water sources and biannual tests be done on all water sources used for drinking or for food preparation. It is the school district’s responsibility to ensure the staff and students have a safe environment to work and learn. School board members must ensure the district follows through on the necessary actions.
